Billy Paul and the Impossible God:

Recently, we posted a clip of Billy Paul Branham telling what appears to be a "tall tale" of a young man driving a five ton truck with no engine. After growing up with the family stories of how the Branham family -- including William Branham -- enjoyed watching television, I made the assumption that the story was a spiced-up version of a black-and-white Candid Camera skit. But as one of the followers of our Facebook Page pointed out, the story sounds strangely similar to a blog post from 2012.

On February 10, 2012, a blog post with the title, "THE IMPOSSIBLE GOD OF A YOUNG SOLDIER" was posted to the website "ImpossibleGod.wordpress.com"

The story, according to the website:

...

A young man working in the army was constantly humiliated because he believed in God. One day the captain wanted to humiliate him before the troops. He called the young man and said: – Young man come here, take the key and go and park the Jeep in front. the young man replied: – I cannot drive! The captain said: – Well then ask for assistance of your God! Show us that He exist!

The young man takes the key and walked to the vehicle and begins to pray…… …He parks the jeep at the place PERFECTLY well as the captain wanted. The young man came out of the jeep and saw them all crying. They all said together: – We want to serve your God!

The young soldier was astonished, and asked what was going on? The CAPTAIN crying opened the hood of the jeep by showing the young man that the car had no engine. Then the boy said: See? This is the God I serve, THE GOD OF IMPOSSIBLE, the God who gives life to what does not exist.

...

One of the commenters to the blog post gave a well-balanced response to this article (which in turn is a well-balanced response to Billy Paul's use of the story in the Still Waters Children's Indoctrination Camp)

1.) The Captain (an officer) would never ask an unlicensed soldier to drive any government vehicle, as he would be liable for any damages to said soldiers or vehicle.

2.) A soldier would have to ‘refuse’ or ‘disobey’ an unlawful order like one.

3.) The language and context of the story above is totally off kilter of the writings of any military personnel who would clearly write with specific military terms and understanding of military duties, both enlisted or officer, when telling a story.
My husband and I have been in the military for over 31 years (not combined). We know a military event being told by a soldier or about a soldier when we read one.

4.) The Bible supports Biogenesis; that life comes from life — proven science.
But in this story, the vehicle did not have a motor … in any sense of the term engine … therefore there was NO LIFE in the car, no moving force.

5.) When the Bible tells of a historical event it connects a real person(s) to the storyline, like Noah and his family, or Lot and his descendants. Real people with real names in real social context was attached to each event in the Bible.
This story has no names attached nor any social context … therefore, no realities.
There is no way to TEST the subjects of this story.
The Bible says to test all things and hold to those that are good — testable things are provable. Even God said to test all things and make sure it holds up to be true in general.
This story has no ‘real’ witnesses, no names, and no social context.
It’s somewhere out there in the never-ever lands of writer’s tall-tales.

6.) Abiogenesis is a concept supported by Atheistic evolutionary speculative imaginations THEORY; that vehicles without motors can move — unproven science.

7.) Therefore, I believe this article was written by an Atheist who wanted Christians to look stupid for their invisible God is just that … theory — hence the invisible motor.

8.) The writer wanted to use reverse psychology on the gullible.
Therefore, he makes his case stronger for the un-believer, like Satan in the Garden of Eden. “See how stupid those Christians are?” or, “Christians will believe anything–even this tall tale!”

These lies will later reduce good minds on any authentic Truths of the Bible.
This is their ploy.
This is not the GOD of the BIBLE.

9.) God created the Universe. God made man in his image. Man designs motors and creates in God’s image and creation by design. We have capacity to create or design things in God’s creation. The motor itself is not living. But it is created by man by design … but patterned after nature; combustion, transfer of potential energy or kinetic energy into power which them creates work, hence an ‘engine’.

10.) God will not be mocked by attempts to make Christians look foolish by telling lies and stories that will suck the sheep in by making it look like Christian belief in foolish ideas like God.

11.) Bacon was no fool; he established the Scientific Method. He was a Christian.
Newton was a Christian.
Kepler’s Laws we use today of planetary motion (bigger engine of the universe.) He was a Christian.

12.) Stories like this have no basis in reality and are totally out of context and incongruent with reality as we know it.

13.) In final: God’s no fool.
Please don’t propagate these tall tales as something God was involved in.
I’m not saying God can’t move a car. But there are certain laws of God that have been established and He does not ask us to believe in tales such as this one. I’m calling it out as a Christian as a lie and built by a liar.

14.) These tall tales are not helping Christianity move forward and do not help the Atheist find the Truth that everything was CREATED, that life comes from life. Proven Science.

15.) All things have a beginning, is cooling, is expanding, and all will ultimately come to an end. I hope that you are with God when this comes about; not part of propagating lies and deceits when Christ returns. Amen!
