Edgar Cayce and William Branham:

A little over two hours south of Jeffersonville, Indiana and about the same distance from Burksville, Kentucky sits a small town called Hopkinsville. And though this city holds very little historical recognition for it, Hopkinsville Kentucky is the birthplace of Edgar Cayce. Edgar Cayce was born on March 18, 1877. Heavily influenced by the Christian Revivalist meetings of the time, Cayce developed a lifelong passion for studying the Bible and the Church. This interest started at an early age.

As we walk through the story of Cayce's life, you will find many elements familiar to the fictional life story of William Branham. When you hear that Cayce claimed to have been alone in the woods at the age of eight for his first angelic visitation, it will give you pause.

"You seen in my little book there how the Angel of the Lord appeared back in those days when I set right on a keg, when I was only about eight years old"
Branham, 51-0415A - Life Story

Cayce's fame was not due to his public speaking. A school dropout, Cayce left school in Hopkinsville after the seventh grade to find work.

"I'm not much of a scholar, because I never got but just a grammar school education, seventh grade at that."
Branham, 50-0821 - The Angel And The Commission

Cayce had the power of what Branham would call "discernment." (Most non-programmed Christians correctly use the word "clairvoyance.") When the spirit hit him, Cayce claimed to see a bright light. Then, with considerable accuracy, Cayce would tell the patient their disease or affliction. But instead of collecting names and addresses on hand-written prayer cards or through the whispers of others working a campaign, Cayce had has wife describe the name and location prior to the "discernment."

"Why, the very Holy Ghost Himself, the Word that's been made power, is right here now, the very power of discernment looking out upon this audience here now and seeing that Light whirling around like a glow."
Branham, 62-0211 - Oneness

Over time, physicians began to take notice of Cayce. His "discernment" had proven to be helpful in identifying some of the more difficult conditions, and doctors began seeking his help on tough cases. Like Branham, Cayce started collecting doctors statements to confirm his "discernment." One such doctor wrote:

"His psychological terms and description of the nervous anatomy would do credit to any professor of nervous anatomy. There is no faltering in his speech and all his statements are clear and concise. He handles the most complex jawbreakers with as much ease as any Boston physician, which to me is quite wonderful in view of the fact that while in his normal state he is an illiterate man, especially along the lines of medicine, surgery and pharmacy, of which he knows nothing... in six important cases which had been diagnosed as strictly surgical he stated that no such condition existed, and outlined treatment which was followed with gratifying results in every case."
- Doctor Wesley Ketchum of Hopkinsville, Kentucky

"And all those testimonies in those books, they're of doctor's bona fide statements. Don't be afraid to write in and see if they're right. Trace them down, see if they're right.
- Branham, 53-0604 - The Angel Of The Lord

In the late twenties and early thirties, Cayce began having visions of the future, many of which seem to have been accurate. Some claim that he successfully predicted WWII which his prophecy describing an "ism" that would rise against Nazism.

"Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, I said, "Now, there's going to be three great isms. Which is now in existence. One of them is in Rome, which is—is Fascism, and one of them is in Germany which is Nazi—Nazism."
- Branham, 55-0501E - The Faith That Was Once Delivered

Two of Cayce's major predictions concerned the futures of China and the Soviet Union, which at the time were the world's great Communist giants. In 1944, he prophesied that China would one day be "the cradle of Christianity as applied in the lives of men." Through Russia, he said "comes the hope of the world.

"What Communism needs over there is the Voice of God rise up among them, and It would put it to a shame. ... What Russia needs is a prophet to rise on the scene with the Word of the Lord, that can—can shut the mouth. Then that ninety percent will take over.
Branham, 63-0120M - The Voice Of God In This Last Days

Like Branham, Cayce did not believe that stabling the world's economy after the second World War would not be successful. When asked in June 1943 whether it would be feasible to work towards an international currency or a stabilization of international exchange levels when the war had ended, Cayce replied that "there may be another war over just such conditions."

"But she is now rottening, and crumbling, and shaking, and giving away. And trying to tax people, to get money to send over yonder, to buy friendship with their enemies; they're throwing it back in our face. One world war, two world war, and still moving on to a third one. Certainly."
- Branham, 65-0219 - This Day This Scripture Is Fulfilled

In the early forties, Cayce began predicting Apocalyptic events that would impact not only this nation, but the entire earth. Like William Branham, Cayce believed that this "judgment" would strike the west coast first. In his prophetic voice, Cayce stated, "Los Angeles, San Francisco, most of all these will be among those that will be destroyed before New York, or New York City itself, will in the main disappear."

"And you watch, the water will come plumb back into the Salton Sea. Los Angeles is doomed for judgment. I tell you before it happens, that you might know when it does happen. I never spoke that by myself. And I've never had Him to tell me one thing but what happened. And you can bear record of that. That's right. When? I don't know."
- Branham, 65-1126 - Works Is Faith Expressed

In both Cayce and Branham's predictions of the unfolding of regeneration, earthquake activity along the West Coast faultline would initiate the

In these doomsday predictions, Cayce predicted that the earth would shift on its axis, creating a new Eden on earth. This new cycle would be the new age, and climate would change such "that where there has been a frigid or semi-tropical climate, there will be a more tropical one, and moss and fern will grow."

"For this season the sun has rocked away, or the earth has rocked away from the sun, and it's following the—the orbit as it goes around; and it's way away, and cold weather is headed for the earth. Therefore, the root holds the life of that leaf until the earth rocks back around again, and then there is no way to ever hide that leaf from coming back again. It'll come back just as sure as the sun comes back. It'll come back. But it has to wait for another season before it comes back."
- Branham, 61-1105 - The Testimony Of A True Witness

Cayce believed that this world came from another civilization, and that civilization -- through the Spirit -- wrote their records onto the Pyramid.

"A record of Atlantis from the beginning of those periods when the Spirit took form, or began the encasements in that land; and the developments of the peoples throughout their sojourn; together with the record of the first destruction, and the changes that took place in the land; with the record of the sojournings of the peoples and their varied activities in other lands, and a record of the meetings of all the nations or lands, for the activities in the destruction of Atlantis; and the building of the pyramid of initiation, together with whom, what, and where the opening of the records would come, that are as copies from the sunken Atlantis."
- Cayce

"I believe every seed was laying right there from some other civilization or something, and as soon as the water lifted off and the light struck it, up come the trees and everything." The same thing with the human being; it's a type."

"What's He doing? He's writing His first Bible. The first Bible was ever written, was written in the skies, the zodiac. It starts out with the virgin; that's how He come first. It ends up with Leo the lion, the second coming. And He's writing His first Bible. The second Bible was written, was written by Enoch, and put in the pyramid.
