A Walk Through History - Seek The Truth Blog:

I remember when Seek The Truth first started, as a simple place to access a few notes. What started out as a simple way to help my memory when I confronted my pastor with a handful of questions has grown into a very large repository of research material. Had you told me in February, 2012 when this site started that over 7,000 cities in almost 200 countries would be frequenting my personal site, I would have started laughing!

Had it not been for my grandfather's words, "People have known these things for years, John, what does it hurt you to believe it anyway?", I would have probably sat confused on a handful of questions for the rest of my life. And had the angry mob of friends and family not become violently different than the nice, gentle spirits I once knew, I likely would have just crawled back into my corner of the cult church, happy to be lulled to sleep by the voice of William Branham as the rest of the church did. But the shock of the home church -- the Branham Tabernacle in Jeffersonville Indiana -- covering up secrets did not set well. So I began digging to see why.

Many remember how rough-around-the-edges my posts were. As simple notes turned into a blog, it was very clear that an unprofessional writer was attempting to discuss what polished authors and public speakers were addressing. And their refined methods of dodging issues made my unprofessional bluntness and abruptness seem like the little David approaching the mighty Goliath. And I imagine that even David was a little more polished than my emotional mess.

In 2012, I was beginning with square one. I had read the Bible, but only through the filter of William Branham. I had studied church history, but mostly just the history that could be found on Branham's books and transcripts. I had studied the supernatural events and prophecies in the "Message," but only through one or two recorded sermons. I had no reason to believe that these things would be so vastly different when compared across the entire collection of tapes recorded by Branham.

But even with my unpolished style, there was one very powerful element that gave me a huge advantage over the polished cult ministers and evangelists: transparency.

When a cult member hears the word "transparency," it is almost if they have discovered Pandora's Box. They get very curious as to what is inside. Most in the cult have never experienced this. What is this great thing called "transparency," and why would anyone do it? Why not hide what you don't want others to see, and show them only the things you want them to see? Why not hide the things people have known for years, and only show them what they think they know?

I decided that the best way to help others flee a religious cult is to be fully transparent in everything. From past sin in my life, to the many mistakes made along the way, to the good time and bad as I went through the many stages of grief. I documented what I experienced as others experienced the same.

And this transparency is often attacked. My confessions, my mistakes -- anything that can be used against my research information is free game to a cult minister. I often wonder if I have actually angered entire third-world nations! My servers are under constant attack, and I have had to restore the blog posts from backup tapes multiple times. It started out sort of funny -- brute force attacks with passwords like "Malachi4" or "JesusIsLord" -- as if my passwords would be so simple. But over time they have become serious and sophisticated attempts to destroy the data.

For this reason, I also made a decision to store the entire history -- all blog entires, books, and more -- in multiple places. Using PDF files for the originals, I also uploaded to Scribed, Kindle, and Amazon. The entire history of Seek The Truth can be found in multiple locations, many of which are free of charge.

All of this said, I have restored all of the files from the 2012, 2013, and 2014 blog. They had been missing on the website for a few months, but some of you have noticed that they are starting to reappear as I find them in the backups. As of two months ago, our most active page is the blog.

With this restoration, I decided to combine all of the posts into collections that are also uploaded to Scribd, Amazon, and Kindle. Even in their raw, unpolished form, the fully transparent and fully documented history of the site will remain forever intact.
