Wake Up! Christ Is Still Coming!

As Christians, there is one thing we should focus on: Christ’s return.  To the trueDescription: Macintosh HD:Users:johncollins:Desktop:Screen Shot 2013-02-20 at 7.07.05 PM.png Christian, nothing else matters.

Let’s imagine if God were to send an angel down to earth so that he can “tap us on the shoulder” and tell us “Christ is coming soon!  Get ready!”  What should we do?  Of course, we should get ready!

We wouldn’t turn around and focus on how the angel entered the earth.  We wouldn’t debate on whether he looked like a male or a female.  We wouldn’t care about anything to do with that angel, because the greatest thing in our Christian lives was about to happen:  Our King is soon arriving!

If scoffers were to tell us that this angel came on a Harley Davidson motorcycle, when we thought it came on a cloud, we really wouldn’t care.  We would not argue with them, we’d try our very hardest to focus the scoffer’s attention on the coming Christ!

At the same time, if somehow we turned around in a trance, and focused on the angel, if that scoffer was a Christian and knew that Christ was coming, he would snatch us by the shoulder and turn us around towards our coming King!  We’d gladly thank him for waking us up, so that we were ready for Christ!

The “organization” and their devoted leaders call us scoffers because we turn people around towards Christ and the Bible.  While they focus on their “angel,” the one they call the “seventh angel,” we try our hardest to turn around an army of drones to the soon coming Christ.

Why do they condemn us?  They were programmed to do so!

William Branham referenced 2 Peter 3 often, talking about the scoffers that would be here in the last days.  Scripturally, Branham is partly correct.  There will be scoffers, just as the Bible says.  But they won’t be scoffing at some “angel” that has been dead and buried.  Peter tells us what the end-time scoffers will deny:

This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved. In both of them I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles

Notice.  This was important to Peter.  It was the second letter that he was writing, and he was “stirring up” the people to keep them reminded about the prophesies regarding the last days.

knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires.  They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming?  For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.”

These are not “scoffers” that point people to Christ – these are people with a motivation other than turning drones around to get ready for the King!

And these scoffers are not speaking against the fictitious stories told by their leaders – they are scoffing at Christ Himself!  They are denying Christ’s return!  Not some false prophet!

For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

Peter reminds us not to become a drone.  Christ’s coming will happen in an instant, and there will be many that are unprepared.

But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.  The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.  But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.

Peter continues to tell us that we have not reached the end yet; these things have not yet happened.  We need to keep focused on Christ:

Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn!  But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.  Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace.  And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters.

Concerning the scriptures, Peter gives us fair warning:

There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures.

Ironically, Peter speaks against those who take the scriptures out of context – just like William Branham often did.  He calls these people “ignorant and unstable,” which could arguably describe this false prophet that combined verses to invent new ones.

You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability.  But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

Had Christians in Branham’s meetings been familiar with this passage, they would have emptied the seats.  Peter is warning us that these people would twist the scriptures, and carry us away.  He warns us that our stability will be taken away!

As Christians, we should ask ourselves:  Why did so many of us turn around, as drones to stare backwards towards 1965 when the false prophet died?  How many are still in the hypnotic state, waiting for the dead ‘angel’ to rise and fulfill the failed prophecies?  How many “invented” scriptures were we taught?  More and more are being found!  Aren’t you ready to turn forward and look to Christ’s coming?
