The Basics: A Cloud By Day, A Pillar Of Fire By Night
The Halo
In a January 1950 meeting in the Houston Coliseum, a photograph was taken of William
Branham as he stood behind the pulpit, preaching. The photograph contains a streak
of light above
William Branham's head, and the Branham's followers believe
that the photographer captured the same "Pillar of Fire" that led the Children of Israel out
of Egypt — though the photographer and those seated in the photograph did not
see it themselves. According to Branham, this was the same light that the Apostle
Paul witnessed in the desert, and God allowed it to be photographed as a supernatural
sign to his followers.
Followers believe that this picture was authenticated by the "head" of the Federal
Bureau of Investigation, sent immediately to Washington, DC for verification, and
hangs still today in a place called the "Religious Hall of Art." Branham claimed
that George J. Lacy, the man who examined the photograph, was called in from California specifically to examine the photograph. Though
Lacy was not employed by the FBI and was local to Houston, he did sit on the board
for The American Society of Questioned Document Examiners, which was engaged by
the Bureau from time to time.
In his examination of the photograph, Lacy confirmed that the photograph had not
been altered, but did not confirm the source of the light as being supernatural. He simply stated the fact that the light had struck the lens.
Though the photograph
is similar in "halo effect" when compared to other pictures taken in the Houston Coliseum, followers of Branham
believe that the source of this light was a supernatural being.
William Branham claimed that this photograph was the only one God allowed to develop, yet other
photographs of the event were printed and published in the local newspapers.
After taking this particular picture, however, the photographer would not it until
it was copyrighted with the Library of Congress. Because of this delay, an issue
of Branham's magazine, The Voice of Healing, was held back until the photo was released.

Branham's accounts of the light:
And that night when they taken the picture of It... Lot of times they said it was
psychology. But the man who taken it was an Orthodox Jew, name is Ted Kipperman.
Mister Ayers was a Roman Catholic. Been standing there making fun. Put a piece in
the paper the day before that, just before, and said I was a hypnotizer, and made
all kinds of remarks, insulting about it. He almost had a heart attack. And he try — tried
to get into the Rice Hotel. And of course, they wouldn't let him in where I was
at. The next morning, they flew the picture away to Washington, DC for a copyright.
Before it could be released, it had to go before the FBI examinations. And when
they did, they went and got the best, George J. Lacy, the best there is in the United
States. He kept it for two or three days, and to see if there was any touch-up,
or anything was wrong, that picture would...
When he brought it out, he said, "Well, it was perfectly right, that the Light was
there that struck it," and gave a great write-up, each one that had to go with each
picture like that. And there it is, visible. And they asked me if I wanted to sell
it. I said, "No, sir. If Jesus Christ, the Son of God, thought enough of me to stand
by my side to have His picture taken, I think enough of Him not to sell it." See?
And so I said... I never... And so I turned it over to the studios, and let them
do what they wished with them. And they said they'd have to get something out of
it. I had them to say that they would sell it so that every poor person could — could
get a hold of it if they wanted it. And I...
The first time... Mr. Lacy said it was the first time in all human history that
a — a supernatural Being was ever photographed. They said it just a... that it's
been said, a lot of times that those lights around the saints, and the unbelievers
say that's some artist painted that picture. But said, "It surely must have been
there, for that optical lens — mechanical lens of a camera won't take psychology.
It was... It was there." And I'm very thankful tonight, to know that that same Pillar
of Fire and — and Cloud, and whatever It is... They'll show you the picture pretty
soon. And maybe, if... They may get some here for the service. And if they do, you'd
be more than welcome to them. And I'm so thankful to know that I have a part, to
be numbered with you people, the great Church of God that's standing today for the
full Gospel, and for righteousness, and for the power of the Holy Spirit in this
last days. I'm thankful for you, and thankful that God has give me the opportunity
to be numbered with you, to be called your brother and sister. And it's... You and
I are brother and sister.
50-0714 AT.THY.WORD
How many seen the picture? You seen the... All of you've seen the picture of It,
haven't you? You mean there's people here that hasn't seen the picture of It? It's
been taken and examined by a government examiner. It's at the table back there.
Here, I believe it's... Here it is when It was caught in the picture. Now, that
is tested by the G. Edgar Hoover outfit, of fingerprint and photography, and so
forth, to be proven that it's perfect. The first time in all the world's history
that a supernatural Being was ever — was ever photographed. First time in all the
world's... George J. Lacy at — at the Shell Building in Houston, Texas, was the one
who had to examine it for two days. If you notice, see how It's licking and blazing
and burning? And they... George said, "Well, go before the world."
First, it had to be tested. It's not a trick photography or something. And we got
the best that the United States has got, and he kept it two days. And his — his statement's
right here. No picture can be given out until the statement goes with it. And there
it is. It whirled right down before thousands of people, right over where I was,
a licking, flaming fire, go, "Whew — whew." [Brother Branham illustrates the sound — Ed.]
right around, like... When I was standing there testifying, I said, "I tell the
truth. And if I tell the truth, God will testify of me, for I testify of Him. And
if I do not tell the truth, God will not testify of me." And I said, "Through signs
and wonders, He testifies." And I said, "He can testify..." And about that time,
here He comes. And He testified. And there it is now. Demons has screamed it out.
Unbelievers, scientists have to say it's true.
Mr. Lacy looked at that, he said, "Well, it's been said by hypocrites that those
lights that were around the saints and the Saviour, was just artist's work." Said,
"They were there because it can't be doubted no more. That is not psychology; a
optical lens of the camera won't take psychology. No, it — it's there." Here's the
paper of it. If we had time, we would write it. That's the way It comes into the
meeting. That's the way It's been seen many, many times. When I was baptizing hundreds
down at the Ohio River at the foot of Spring Street in Jeffersonville, where thousands
were blacked on the bank... At right at two o'clock in the afternoon, I was baptizing
the seventeenth person. I started to pray, and thousands standing there looking.
And down from the heavens came that green, whirling down like a big star in the
distance. When It got close, It was that Light, a Pillar of Fire. I think It's the
same One that led the children of Israel in the days that went before Moses. And
It's in the church today. It's here tonight, the same Pillar of Fire.
When He told me, He said, "As Moses was given two signs to vindicate his ministry,
so will you be given two signs. And by these signs, that people will believe." And
there It is. I believe It's the same Angel of the covenant. And He came down when
hundreds and hundreds standing there, people fainted, and fell, and everything.
The papers carried a great article, "Mystic star appears over minister at two o'clock
in the afternoon while baptizing." There It was. Friends, settle yourself down.
The hour has come. There's been a lot of "playing religion." There's been a lot
of playing church. But the hour has come where God's calling out His people. That's
right. And He's vindicating it by signs and wonders. And that's it. And here's the
statement. Anyone's welcome to read it. It's here any time, and for anybody. And
look at it.
Call George J. Lacy. You've heard of him. He's one of the Edgar Hoover outfits,
one of the best there is in the United States. This hall then goes to the... This
picture goes to the Religious Hall of Art. For the first time in all the world's
history that a supernatural Being was ever photographed... I say, "Thanks be to
God, Who gives us the victory through Jesus Christ."

Notice. And then when the man pulled out those six pictures of the minister that
was debating that the Divine healing, and I was a devil and so forth. Every one
of them was solid black and blank. There's his name and address. Send to the American
Photographers Association and find out. When he pulled out the one he snapped, there
was the Angel of God's picture whirling around where I was at. The first time in
all the world's history that a supernatural Being was ever photographed. It was
rushed to Washington, DC, copyrighted, sent back and give to George J. Lacy, J.
Edgar Hoover, examiner. They kept it two days at the Shell Building in Houston.
And when he come over there, and they all set out there together to find out what
it was all about, he said, "Whose name is Branham?" I said, "Mine, sir." He said,
"Stand up." He looked, said, "Mr. Branham, you'll die like all mortals do. But as
long as there's a Christian civilization, your picture will never die." He said,
"Because it's the first time in all the world's history that a supernatural Being
was ever photographed." He said, "The old hypocrite has always said, "They... Scientifically,
you can't prove there is a God." But said, "That has to be changed now, for here's
scientifically... The Angel of God was there, and the Light struck the negative."
There it was. There he signed... wrote out a big document, signed his name to it.
There it is right back there. You can look at it yourself. There's the Angel of
the Lord.
51-0502 THE.ANGEL.OF.THE.LORD
At that same time, God came down. And when he taken my picture, all the other man's
pictures was blank, every one of them. And here, when this was taken, here was the
Angel of God standing there. They sent it into the laboratories in Washington, DC,
and it was copyrighted, and went through the greatest tests that could be of the
greatest... George J. Lacy, the greatest man on research there is in America. And
he kept it for days, and brought it out. His report's on the record there. The first
time in all the world's history that a supernatural Being was ever photographed,
that it's there.
51-0509 TESTIMONY
And then quickly, they referred to it, and went down there, and they sent it away
at eleven o'clock that night to Washington, DC, and copyrighted it. Then it was
sent back to Houston. And it was given into the hands of George J. Lacy, the best
examiner in the United States, ex-FBI. And he kept it, said, "Now..." a very hard-boiled.
He kept it and said, "Now, wait a minute," said, "I will look it over," and so forth
like that. And — and he took it into the Shell Building for examination, which was...
Shell Building for examination and document. He just come from California on a half
a million dollar case, and they brought him over there. He kept the picture for
two days; then he sent word, said, "We'll give the reading on it, and let you know
about it on two o'clock, on the following afternoon, on the third day. Big bunch
of photographers, and so forth, gathered in. Many of the people around the city,
like the writer for the "Colliers" and "Times," they gathered in. And when he come
out, he's kind of a red-headed fellow, very hard-boiled. He walked out sarcastic;
I looked at him, and looked like his face had tendered up. He said, "Whose name's
Reverend Branham?" And I said, "Mine, sir." He said, "Stand up on your feet." And
I stood up. He said, "Reverend Branham, one of these days, you're going to pass
off of life's scenes like all mortals do." I said, "I'm aware of that, sir." He
said, "But as long as there's a Christian civilization, your picture shall never
die." He said, "It's the first time in all the world's history that a supernatural
Being was ever photographed. But I put it through every test that can be thought,
and," said, "It was a supernatural Being that's been shot." He said, "For myself,
I have said and heard of your meetings, and read it in the magazines, and I heard
about that Angel, and so forth. I said within myself, even to the time that I received
the negative, 'It's psychology.'" He said, "But Brother Branham, the mechanical
eye of that camera will not take psychology." Said, "The Light struck the negative."
He said, "My mother was a Christian. And I — I thought I was." He said, "But God
have mercy on me." He said, "Come forward." And everybody started crying. He...?...
said, "It was once said, Brother Branham, by the old hypocrite (he meant the unbeliever),
that there's no scientific proof of the supernatural Being." Said, "Them days is
passed now." He had the negative in his hand. He said, "Them days is passed." And
he said, "It's scientifically proven that here's the supernatural Being." He said,
"Mr. Branham, I will submit this to you." I said, "It's not mine, sir." He said,
"Oh, wait a minute," said, "that negative's worth a hundred thousand dollars right
the way..." I said, "If it... to me, It's worth life."
He said, "Brother Branham, do you realize what..." said, "You'll never live to see
the day that the picture comes into its value, because the — the testator is always
dead before the testament is seen." And he said, "It'll be in the days after you're
gone." He said, "But right now, do you realize what that is?" And I said, "Sir,
It belongs to the American Photographers Association." I said, "It... if Jesus Christ,
my Lord, thought enough of me, to come down in a battle like I was, and have His
picture taken with me, for the first time in all the world's history, I love Him
too well to commercialize it." And I said, "I will have nothing to do with it."
So then they asked me if I'd draw up a plan with them. The lawyers was there, and
everything. The studio had the lawyers. And I said, "I will sign no papers. But
Mr. Kipperman and you, if you wish to sell it, make it enough so every person (poor
people) can get it." But I said, "look, another thing I will require for the sacredness
of the picture, that Mr. Lacy, that you'll sign a document, so that the critics
will be shut up when they look at it." I said, "and sign a document. And I will
ask you, Mr. Kipperman, and you (in the agreement), that you're privileged to sell
it. I will sign no papers, but you're privileged to sell it, low priced so the people
can get a hold of it, and that no picture can go without a writing signed statement
from Mr. Lacy, here, who's our best in America." So I'd think it was the best in
the world. And he said, "I will do that." And he wrote up a — a thing, what he'd
done, and went to the auditorium, he searched to see if it was a double exposure,
and there just above the head, where it was settling down, was the big Pillar of
Fire a whirling around, and around, and around.
He said, "Brother Branham, in the... looking through the negative through the ultra-ray
lights, and so forth, it looked like it was kind of a yellow, greenish looking fire,
a milling, like this." And I said, "That's just the way It is." And people there
who seen It. To my opinion, here's what I think it would be, while I read the Scriptures.
First, I have the picture here; I want to show it to you. Mr. Kipperman sells them
sometimes at the meeting. But when I found out that he was overcharging the people
for it, I wouldn't let them sell it in the meetings. Because the picture wouldn't
cost over thirty or forty cents, not over fifty at the most, and selling it for
a dollar and a quarter is too much. So I... Can you see it back there?
Now, at nighttime, when you see those things going on here, it's not me that does
that; here is the One that does it. How many can see how far back, let's see your
hand, way back. I will have my boy to take it to the stand back there. And in here
also, if you'd like to read Mr. Lacy's write up, there it is. You can have a photostatic
copy... A photostatic copy's in my book there, but they won't let us (the studios),
won't let me print the picture in my book. They let me have the... this, for this
is copyrighted. See on the back, and on here? And you couldn't touch it (See?),
because it's copyrighted, and they've got it in Washington, DC. And one of them
hangs in the Religious Hall of Art, in Washington, DC, as the first photograph that
was ever taken of a supernatural Being.
51-0718 THE.ANGEL.OF.THE.LORD
How many of you seen the picture of It, where they took it? Let's see your hands
up like this. Where George J. Lacy, and the FBI, and all of them examined it. It's
near us right here now.
51-0923 THE.PRINCIPLES.OF.DIVINE.HEALING
And Ayers said, "I don't know." Said, "It's got me beat." They went on in and started
developing the pictures. Kipperman, the Jew went upstairs to go to bed. And when
he did, his father lived over the studio, Ayers, was going to... The Catholic boy
was going to try to develop the pictures. And when he got it, he put them all through,
developed them, smoked a cigarette, pulled one of them out, it was blank. The one
he was going to take of Mr. Bosworth, when he was skinning him. It was blank. The
one blank, the next one blank, and all six of them was blank. Not a one of them
showed. God let him know Who was Boss. Then he pulled the next one out. And to his
surprise, there was the Angel of the Lord, standing in a flaming fire over where
I was standing. He grabbed his heart; he looked back. He dropped the negative; he
screamed for Ted. He run...?... "Look at there; it struck the lens. It's the truth,
Ted." Said, "Maybe I've been wrong." There that night, even yet at eleven o'clock
that negative went to Washington, DC by plane, to be copyrighted, brought back.
And George J. Lacy, the best there is in United States, on research was brought
from California to Houston, Texas, for to take the negative under consideration.
He kept it for days. He looked through the lights; he looked at the camera. He took
everything, and 'fore he could sign, because he's a FBI agent today, the best they
got. 'Fore he could put his name to anything, he went down, and then at the day
when it was going to call out, he said, when he come out in the room, he said...?...
"Whose name is William Branham?" I said, "Mine, sir." He said, "Stand up." I stood
up. A red-headed man, rather hard-boiled at first. He said, "Rev. Branham," he said,
"I had a good Christian mother; I was taught to believe." He said, "But you're going
to pass out of this life like all mortals." I said, "Yes, sir. I know that. But
thank God, I'm ready." He said, "But, as long as there's a Christian civilization..."
He said, "I've criticized your meeting. I've said myself it was psychology." But
said, "Rev. Branham, the mechanical eye of that camera will not take psychology."
Said, "The light struck the negative." He said, "I'm ready to sign my name to a
document." Said, "It was there. And It's the only supernatural Being was ever photographed
in all the world's history." People begin weeping and crying. There It is. We got
permission to put It in the book back there, and there we stand today with It.
52-0713A EARLY.SPIRITUAL.EXPERIENCES
And about that time, here He come, "Whoosh," coming right down over where I was.
Excited this photographer. He run forth, the one that got the glossy of the man.
And he snapped the picture, snapped a picture of me standing there. I said, "God
will testify. I shall say no more." I walked off the platform. So that night he
went home, on the road home they discussed about it. Said, "What do you think about
that?" The Catholic said to the... I mean the Jew said to the Catholic. He said,
"Well, we're taught in our church, that it can be, but it would have to be a Catholic,
nothing but a Catholic. See, it would have to come through the church. If there's
any blessings, it comes through the church." Said, "Oh, I..." Kipperman said, "I
don't know nothing about it, just to be honest with you." Ayers said, "Well, I might
have criticized the man wrong." So he went on down. Kipperman said, "Well, I'm going
upstairs and go to bed."
Ayers said, "I will put these in the studio, and run them through the acid, 'cause
Best wants them tomorrow. I think he wants, maybe, use one in the paper, them glossies."
So he put the six negatives in the acid. He was standing there smoking a cigarette,
waiting for the — the developing of it, as it went into the process of acid developing.
He was smoking a cigarette. After while he threw the cigarette down; he was thinking
about the meeting and what taken place. So he walked in, he pulled out the six negatives.
He looked at one of them, perfectly blank, second, blank, third, fourth, fifth,
sixth, perfectly blank. Every one of Mr. Best was blank. And when he pulled out
the one that he taken of me, there was the Angel of God, the Pillar of Fire, in
the picture.
He grabbed his heart; he fell forward. He screamed for Ted. They run downstairs.
That was about ten-thirty. And at eleven o'clock, it was on its road on an airplane
to Washington, DC, to be copyrighted. Returned back, and when it did, it was turned
over to the head, George J. Lacy, anybody knows he's head of the FBI, in fingerprint
and so forth. And he happened to be in California, just down to Houston, they taken
it into the Shell building under examination for two days. On the end of that time,
he said, "Come forth, and stand in the room, and they would let them know what it
was."
So they taken their camera; they look at the camera. They taken the negative. They
put it under a violet ray, and all kinds of light. They went down to the auditorium.
They examined the film in every way. So then that afternoon when everybody was gathered
together there, in the little Shell building, to can find out what would take the
place, or Shell Oil Company, the building there... He said, "Whose name is Rev.
Branham?" Kind of a tough-looking fellow. But he had softened up a whole lot. I
said, "Mine, sir." He said, "Stand up." I stood up. He said, "Mr. Branham," said,
"you'll have to pass out of this life someday like all mortals." I said, "I'm aware
of that, sir. But thanks be to God Who gives me the victory through Jesus Christ."
And he said, "Sir," he said, "I've heard of your meetings. And I said those things
were psychology." And said, "I seen the pictures where the saints, and them lights
they had around the Saviour there." He said, "My mother was a Christian woman. She
taught me to be a Christian." He said, "But I always said that that...?... painting
was psychology. Of course, some artist picked it up." But he said, "Rev. Branham,
I believe it was the truth now." He said, "That mechanical eye of that camera won't
take psychology. It was absolutely a genuine picture. The only one in the world's
history today, and can be proven to be a hypocrite," he meant the unbeliever, that
said, "there was no such a thing as a supernatural Being. Could not be scientifically
proved," but said, "that day is passed. Here it is."
People been screaming and crying and everything. He said, "Come forward to receive
the negative." Picking up the negative, he said, "Rev. Branham, it's went through
everything." Said, "Absolutely, I'm willing to sign my name to any document that
the Light struck the negative." And he said, "Psychology don't give light." Hallelujah.
Tears rolling down my cheeks, I looked around. There it was. God had vindicated
a seventh-grade education. The things that they said was fanaticism, God had vindicated
Truth to the scientific world, once for all. Said, "There it is." He said, "You'll
never live to see the value of this picture." Said, "You'll go before that time,
no doubt." He said, "Here I submit it to you."
I said, "Sir, it's not mine." I said, "It belongs there to the American Photographer
Association." Mister Kipperman come forward. Said, "I'd like to ask the document
of this, with my lawyer sitting here, that you'd give me permission to sell the
picture." I said... He said, and so he said, "Mr. Branham, you realize that picture
is worth a hundred thousand?" I said, "Sir, listen. To all of you, once for all,
if my Lord Jesus thought enough of me to come down by my side, in that hard struggle
against right and wrong, and stand by my side for the first time in all the world's
history to have His picture taken, standing by me; I love Him too much to commercialize
it. That's right." And I said, "I will not have one thing to do with it." He said,
"Well, it should be some kind of a document." I said, "Mr. Kipperman and the Douglas
Studio has a right to sell it. I won't sign nothing. But if they will sell it in
a price where poor people can get a hold of it..." And they promised they would
do that. And it would turn loose. They had the copyright on it, and you can send
and get a copy of it."
And I said, "One more thing, Mr. Lacy called my attention." He said, "One more thing
ought to be said. That this picture could not be sold, unless there be a statement
go out, because it was given to the picture that there shouldn't be any critics
go out and say, 'Well, it's nonsense. All that's just hear talk,' or something like
that. You can have a photostatic copy of it right yonder, if you wish. You can see
Mr. Lacy, and find out who he is. Anybody that knows anything about photography,
or fingerprints, knows who George J. Lacy is. There he is the best there is in the
United States, and I think he's the best in the world. And there he is, after two
days of research, and chemicals and everything else, said, "It's absolutely the
picture of a supernatural Being standing there beside of you."
Then what I say? Anyone who knows the Old Testament, knows that it was a Pillar
of Fire that led the children of Israel. Is that right? And all Bible readers know
that that was the Angel of the Covenant. Do you believe that? Then if that was that
Angel of the covenant, it was Jesus Christ. He's the same yesterday, today, forever.
He's still the Lord Jesus. "I came from God, and I go to God," He said. "A little
while and the world seeth Me no more, yet you'll see Me. I will be with you, even
in you, to the end of the age." "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever."
That's when Brother Bosworth give me the negative, or the picture of Florence Nightingale,
laying yonder dying. Said, "If I only..."
How many seen that picture back there in the book? You see it in "The Voice of Healing."
How I will never forget this. How wonderful when I went to pray for her. When she
went in there, I looked at her, and that cold hand. How God moved down there, and
a little dove flew through the bushes and sit on the window, cooed back and forth
while I was praying. When I raised up, the ministers raised up and said, "Did you
hear... Did you see — look at that dove?" The dove flew away when I raised up. Said,
"Did you notice that dove?" I got ready to say I... The woman couldn't even move;
she was laying there. And I said, "I thought you... I seen the dove," or something."
52-0725 EXPERIENCES
Friends, how many seen the picture there in the book, of that Angel of the Lord?
You probably got It in your house. It was copyrighted yonder in Washington, DC,
the only supernatural Being that was ever taken. I'm standing at a sacred desk here;
God knows this is true. That same Angel that you see yonder, where all the whole
nation blared at, where they're trying to be to get It in papers and things, but
It's copyrighted, it can't be done. It'll never be till I'm dead and gone. Then
It'll be brought out. But you can have It. You could buy It. But I mean It can't
be released, because God wouldn't permit that. But yonder It is, by all scientific
research, everywhere. The best there is in United States, there's his own name,
George J. Lacy, signed to it, FBI, head of the FBI agent, on fingerprint and so
forth. There it is signed by him. You couldn't get a copy of It without his signature.
It's the only supernatural Being was ever scientifically proved to be real.
And there, right before thousands of people, many, many thousand, when they said,
I was an impostor. I said, "I only claim to be God's servant. I am not a Divine
healer." I said, "I tell the truth. An Angel of God came to me, and told me that
I was to go to do this thing. If I speak the truth, then God will vindicate the
Truth. But if I tell a lie, God has nothing to do with a lie. And He won't bless
error. Anyone knows that." I said, "If I tell the Truth, then God will speak that
I've told the truth." And about that time, here It come, whew [Brother Branham makes
a whirling sound — Ed.] a Pillar of Fire, something like that, hung right down where
I was. And the American Photographer Association set up their camera and shot the
picture. Took it, said, "I'll see if it's psychology." And went down there and put
it in the acids and tested it, and flew It to Washington, DC the same night, returned
back, and it's been in their hands of the Douglas Studios in Houston, Texas, the
only supernatural Being was ever photographed and proved. Now, the scientific world
knows It's real. And a real borned again Christians who were in the meeting and
see the work of It, know It's real. Now, what more do you need tonight, but to accept
It as being real, sent from God? The Lord bless you. Okay, Billy? All right.
52-0810E JESUS CHRIST THE.SAME YESTERDAY TODAY AND FOREVER
When I was born, this Light, Angel of the Lord, which they have the picture of It,
I'm sorry we don't have any, tonight. We haven't had them for some time. They're
copyrighted so tight, we have to pay the same price, to get them that you would
get them. Usually we just tell you where to go get them. You can ask at the desk,
and they'll tell you. Where it's copyrighted yonder, the American Photographer Association
has it, the FBI, the everything, all the scientist has chased it through. The very
best we have, George J. Lacy... And there's his signed statement that it's the first
time in all of the world's history that it could be scientifically proven that there
was a supernatural Being, that same Angel of God that's right here, you see nightly,
moving. There It is on pictures. Mr. Lacy said, "The mechanical eye of this camera,
Rev. Branham, won't take psychology." He said, "The Light struck the lens. And it's
a leaping, flaming, emerald fire, a burning." Many times It comes right into the
meeting. You can see It. thousands times thousands have seen It at a time.
52-0817E DO.YOU.NOW.BELIEVE
Thirty thousand people, critics standing there, I said, "I don't claim to be a healer.
You know I don't. I only speak of the truth. When I was born in a little Kentucky
cabin up there, the Angel of the Lord come in the window and stood there. There
was a Pillar of Fire." And I said, "God has proved that. And if I tell the truth,
God will a-vindicate the truth. And if I'm a liar, God will have nothing to do with
me." And about that time, she went "Whoosh," here He come. The American Photographer
Association, all them there, "Look," "Life," "Times," "Collier," and all of them.
The American Photographer Association shot the picture of It. Said, "I believe it's
psychology. We've seen It before, but I believe..." And they took it home. And there
the Light struck the lens. They took it to George J. Lacy. They put it under everything
they could. And now it hangs in Washington, DC, in the hall of fame. Hallelujah.
What is it? Jesus Christ with that bunch that they call holy-rollers. God bless
your heart.
53-0326 ISRAEL.AND.THE.CHURCH.2
You seen the picture of It awhile ago, that Pillar of Fire. Did you ever see It?
A lady here has got a book. Bring me that yellow book, will you, sister there? Wished
I would've brought some of those pictures. How many ever — never did see It, let's
see your hand, never even seen a picture of the Angel? Here It is. This is by the
American Photographer Association, hangs in the religious hall of art in New York
City, the only supernatural Being that was ever taken in all the world's history.
You can see the Pillar of Fire. Here's George J. Lacy the head of the FBI. There's
his signed signature that It was a supernatural Being there, when It was taken before
thirty thousand people. And you see that, it said, "It looked like a yellow... [Blank.spot.on.tape — Ed.]...?...
right in this here.
53-0507 EXPECTATIONS
But now, these pictures here, how many have seen this? Of course, you all have in
this town. I wished I'd have brought some with me. You can have one if you write
at home. I think they sell them for fifty cents. And that's testimony by the United
States government, hangs in the Hall of Fame at Washington, DC, in the hall of religious
art: Only supernatural Being was ever photographed. See, It's a Pillar of Fire.
Ask what George J. Lacy, the head of the FBI on fingerprint said about it. There's
his statement right on the back of it; you'll see it. Now, He's here. I want you
to be real reverent. Now, when the patient's coming, listen closely: be in prayer.
God will heal you if you'll only believe. Have faith. Okay.
53-0508 GOD.COMMISSIONING.MOSES
When he went... Mr. Kipperman come down, and when he went to take in the dark room
to get the pictures out, the first one he took, Mr. Best, blank; second one, blank;
third, blank; fourth, fifth, sixth, every one of them blank. Not a one of them with
his poses with his finger in that saintly old man's face, Mr. Bosworth, not a one
of them. And when he pulled the next one out, he had a heart attack. There was the
Angel of the Lord on the picture. They called for me; and I couldn't come to him.
Immediately at eleven o'clock they rushed it away to — to Washington, DC for copyright,
brought it back and sent to — to over to — to California for George J. Lacy. If anybody
knows anything about photography, know George J. Lacy is the head of the FBI fingerprint
and so forth, best there is in the world. He had it three days in the Shell Building.
On the third day he said — said he'd show it to us, and he'd give his... what he
thought it was. They went to the room; they done everything. They took the camera,
the negative, and everything. He put it under all kind of lights.
He come out. He's kinda red-headed fellow, very hard-boiled. He walked out. Said,
"Whose name's Branham?" There was just about as many setting as there is right in
this middle aisle here. I was back towards the back. I said, "Mine." Said, "Stand
up." I stood up. He said, "Mr. Branham," said, "you're going to pass out of this
life like all mortals." I said, "I'm aware of that, sir, but I thank God that Jesus
Christ has taken my place in death." He said, "Come forward." And I walked up. He
said, "Rev. Branham, I've heard of your meetings and I said it was psychology, that
the people imagined they saw that Light." Said, "I've said the same things." But
said, "My mother was an old Christian woman." He said, "But let me tell you, Rev.
Branham, that mechanical eye of that camera will not take psychology." He said,
"It's a genuine supernatural Being, and the only time in all the world's history
that a picture like that was ever taken." He said, "The old hypocrite can never
say no more that there's no such a thing as scientific proof of the supernatural
Being, for this has been took through every test there is." And said, "I submit
it to you."
And he give it to me, and I give it over to the American Photographer Association,
and they fixed it so it couldn't be sold for too much. He said, "Rev. Branham, before
you leave..." Everybody was crying. He said, "Before you leave, someday when you
pass away from this life," he said, "that picture will be on ten cent store shelves
and things." He said, "Because it's the only thing that we've ever had our hands
on that we could prove that was a actual supernatural Being." Said, "Around the
Saviour, the saints, they painted lights." He said, "And they'd say that was psychology,
the unbeliever." But said, "I believe it was there." Said, "This is not psychology.
The mechanical eye of that camera didn't take it that way and I..." He said, "For...
I'd say for the sacredness of the picture, I will write you a little statement and
give my statement concerning it." And I submitted it to them and here's the picture.
It's a milling Fire about so big around. Now you... I want you after the service
is over, come up here and look at it. I wish... I have a bunch of them. If you'll
just write to my office up home, I think they give about fifty cents apiece for
them. They'll send it to you with his writing on it, whatever it is.
Now, it's not nothing in them... We don't... Nothing in the picture, 'cause if Jesus
Christ thought enough of me to come down and have His picture taken beside of me
for the first time in all the world's history, I love Him too much to commercialize
His picture. You know that. That's right. See? Now, there it is. I just borrowed
this one from Mr. Shebley and them, the Reverend here and — and I give it to him
the other day, and I want you to see it. Look at It, It's a milling Fire. Now, what
is that? A Pillar of Fire led the children of Israel. And the same Pillar of Fire
was among those people is among this people now: Jesus Christ the same yesterday,
today, and forever. Is that right?
53-0509 THE.PILLAR.OF.FIRE
And how many ever heard of George J. Lacy? He's the best that there is in FBI on
fingerprint and researches in California at the time, and they brought him to Houston,
Texas, for a research to touch — to find that. He took the camera; he took everything.
He took the film he — he took everything, went to the thea — stadium and everything
to check it all over and everything. Had it three days and nights under violet ray
lights and everything else, he kept it. And on the afternoon of the fourth day he
called and said, "Now, I'll give the analysis of what about the picture. All of
us come in. There set the newspapers and so forth. I was setting way back about
half as many people was in this aisle here." He said... He come out, he's kind of
a red headed fellow. He said, "Whose name is Reverend Branham?" I said, "Mine, sir."
He said, "Stand up." I stood up. He said, "Reverend Branham, you're going to pass
out of this life like all mortals." I said, "I know that, sir. But thanks be to
God, I'm prepared for that hour." And he said, "Would you come forward?" I said,
"Yes, sir." He said, "I submit this to you." He said, "Reverend Branham, I've been
one of your critics." He said, "I've said that was psychology, the people saying
they seen that — and that Light and that Pillar of Fire and so forth." Said, "They — they...
I said it was psychology. I've heard of others taken it, and I said it was psychology."
He said, "But, Reverend Branham, the mechanical eye of that camera will not take
psychology." He said, "The Light struck the lens." And he said, "It's the first
time in all the world's history that ever a supernatural Being was ever photographed."
He said, "The old hypocrite (which he meant the unbeliever) has said there's no
scientific proof that there is a s — a supernatural Being." But said, "That can't
be said no more." Said, "But here's a scientific picture to prove that there is
a supernatural Being." And one of them hangs in the Religious Hall of Art in Washington,
DC dedicated to the place. The picture's under copyright, the studios have sold
thousands of them.
He submitted the negative to me. I said, "Sir, if my Lord Jesus thought enough of
me to come down and have His picture taken by the side of me for the first time
it's ever taken in all the world's history, I love Him too much to commercialize
His picture." See? Said, "No, sir." He said, "That's worth a hundred thousand dollars."
I said... He said, "Now, you'll probably be dead and gone before this picture comes
into a force." He said, "But as long as there's a Christian civilization, this will
live on." So I said, "Well, sir, no matter what it would be, I don't — I don't take — commercialize
nothing." See? I said, "I don't go out for people's money." That's true. God knows
that, and the people of the world knows it.
53-0603 GOD.COMMISSIONING.MOSES
He never said, "A thunderhead of Fire;" He never said, "A big bank of Fire;" He
said a Pillar of Fire. You know what a pillar is, of Fire. Now, Mr. George J. Lacy,
here's his copy of this. You can have a photostatic copy if you wish. It's in the
book here, on both of the books, a photostatic copy, only this is copyrighted. I
have to get permission to get these. They're not mine, and I don't... There's not
one c — penny of it commercial. No, sir, just exactly cost. So the Douglas Studios
in Houston, Texas, has it. I have nothing to do with it. Mr. Lacy, here, which is
the head of the FBI, the best fingerprint, and — on the — that there is in the United
States, and 'course, we believe, in the world. He had it for several days. He said
it looked like an amber light, through the violet rays and things that he was putting
it through: a whipping, milling Fire. And you who got the picture, look at it real
close, look at the blaze running around it. You see how it's flipping and burning
around. Now, that is the One Who comes to this platform; not your brother, not your
brother. It's Him.
53-0604 THE.ANGEL.OF.THE.LORD
It was at a meeting and a discussion down... A Baptist minister said there was no
such a thing as Divine healing; the days of miracles was passed and come over to — to
debate the thing and you know the story how it went. And the Angel came. I said,
"I cannot be a healer, sir, no more than you can be a saviour," but I said, "God
never testifies of a lie. He testifies of truth. And if I testify of truth, God
will testify of me." I no more than said that, and something went "Whooo" and here
He come, right coming down. And here It was right above me like this, the Angel
of the Lord standing there, thirty thousand people looking at it. They shot the
picture of It, and the association took the picture, they said, "It can't be psychology."
And went and looked at it. Put it in the — the acid and tested it. The man had a
heart attack that tested the picture they took it to George J. Lacy, the head of
the FBI. He examined it for four days and declared it to be a supernatural Being
that struck the lens. See. Right at the time... Don't ever worry. If God sends you,
you just go ahead. See? God will take care of all the rest of it. Isn't that wonderful?
"Seek — seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. All other things
will be added." Just don't have to worry. God has everything. Now, in speaking on
Saint John 14, we want to look at God and see if we can see God. Now, that's been
the aged-old question for years: "If I could only see God." Now, we're going to
look at Him this afternoon and see Him, in about... We'll have time maybe for about
three or four ways to look at God. Then see if we can see God come here right in
the building. See? All right.
53-0907A LORD.SHOW.US.THE.FATHER.AND.IT.SUFFICETH.US
I was with Brother Bosworth. It was the night the Angel of the Lord's picture was
taken. How many has got that picture now in your possession? Thank you. I'm sure
it'll be a great blessing to you. Here sometime ago, there's a lady at the hospital
at the city I live. The picture was setting on the table. The doctor had told here
she couldn't get well. Now, this is her story. She said looking at... Not at her
brother, but to the Angel of the Lord... Now, if you'll notice, friends, that is
a — a Pillar of Fire. George J. Lacy, you read what he said. Now, that's the best
that we got in the United States on — on that kind of work, on research. And when
he said that day, said, "If — if the old hypocrite (he meant the unbeliever) says
that there can be... never could be scientifically proved that there was a supernatural
Being," but said, "he can't say that now, because here's scientific proof that there
is a supernatural Being." For you hear what he said. The Light struck the lens.
See? And It was there. It was... He said, "The mechanical eye of this camera won't
take psychology." Said, "It's not psychology." Said, "I've said it was psychology,
Mister Branham, myself," but said, "mechanical eye of this camera won't take psychology.
The Light struck the lens. And the — the Being was there."
You heard what Mr. Dr. Stomewell... How many reads "The Voice of Healing," and read
that article in there of Dr. Stomewell on that? He said, "Absolutely." Now, he don't
know nothing about this picture yet. He was an atheist, just been converted a few
weeks. But he said that, "That magnetic power of a believer in contact with God
was so vital," he said, "that even he believed over the Christ, that that halo that
was painted was absolutely could been seen." Because it's a power. Now, just think.
He took a — a machine. You know, the human being is not made to lie. And if you're
telling a lie, they can put you before a lie detector, and your nerves will react.
And then they took this same thing and converted it to a way that they could tell
whether it was truth or not, and put it on a person praying, and I think it taken,
I forget how many thousand kilowatts to send a radio message around the world, and
when this woman begin to pray at her death, there went out enough power from her
till it registered over as far as the needle would go. Enough power leaving that
woman, actually supernatural power that caught on this machine, some kind of a magnetic
power of her prayer, that was powerful enough to send a radio message fifty-five
times around the world. That's scientific.
Men working around in science has found God. That's right. He lives out there. He
is in the scientific world. They just touched around on His little basic play things,
that He plays with, or has out there for them. Now, they're coming up into a place,
in a category, where they can find Him. Now, on this picture, Brother Bosworth brought
me the picture of Florence Nightingale, and you... I'm sorry. We have no more of
those books. They're out of print at the time. We wasn't financially able to...
Was about ten thousand dollars, to cost about a dollar apiece to print them to put
them back in print, and they won't print less than ten thousand. So we couldn't
do it. But when they first went out, why then, we sold all them, and they were gone.
Then, in there he got a copyright from permitting the copyright to place this picture
in there. The picture belongs to the Douglas Studios, not me. And — and then, in
this picture, as I was saying a few moments ago, a woman in the hospital was looking
at it, and was praying after her doctor told her she couldn't get well. She claimed
that she seen that picture, that mill of Fire, come out of there and stand over
where she was. I knowed one thing, I don't know what taken place there, but the
next day, she was sent home well. I don't know what. I — I know that. And she was
sent home well. Now, It's His Being. And if we'll read the Scripture, we find out
that it was a Pillar of Fire that led the children of Israel. That same Pillar of
Fire, I believe, was over Jesus Christ. And I believe that He's raised — risen from
the dead, showing the same signs that He showed when He was here on earth. And it's
that same Pillar of Fire that's over the Church right now, the same Angel of God,
that same Presence.
53-1114 AFRICA.TRIP.REPORT
Here He come, sailing right down where I was. And this photographer run out and
took a picture, when he seen me turn white in the face. And he took a picture. I
said, "God has spoken." And that's all Catholic people and all setting there saw
It, looked at It. And many of them begin to scream and fainting. Come right down,
a Pillar of Fire, moved right down to where I was at. He shot the picture. And the
man... One of the men of the studio was a Jew. His name was Ted Kipperman. The other
one's name was Mr. Ayers. He's a Roman Catholic. And oh, he just wrote a awful thing
in the paper about me the other day — the day before that. He said I was a hypnotizer
and I don't know what all. And so on the road home that night, taken the — the negatives,
going in to have them developed for Mr. Best. He said, "I might've been wrong."
Said, "What do you think about that, Ted?" Ted said, "Well, I'm Jew. I don't know
nothing about it."
He said, "Well," he said, "I'm Catholic," and said, "we're taught that those things
can happen, but it can only happen in a Catholic church." Now, you're wrong there.
See? It can happen wherever God wants it to happen, whether it's in Catholic church
or — or anywhere He wants it to happen. He's God. He does the choice. He keeps the
book. And so he went in, and he put the — the pictures in the dark room to go through
the acids to be developed, and the next... After a bit, why, Mr. Kipperman, he said,
"I'm going up and lie — lie down a little while." And so he went upstairs to lie
down. And while he was up there, Mr. Ayers smoked a cigarette or two, and went in
the dark room and said, "I'll see. We had to get the picture ready 'cause Mr. — Mr.
Best — Dr. Best, the minister, wanted his pictures the next day so he could show
it to the people," he was shaking his fist under his nose.
So then when he... The next when Mr. Ayers went in, which is an archenemy of mine
and Brother Bosworth too. He didn't believe it. He wrote a piece in the paper and
said I wasn't nothing but a hypnotizer. A goiter had left a woman's throat. He said,
"He hypnotized that off of her throat." Oh, my. That shows mental weakness. So then
when he pulled the first picture out of Mr. Best with Mr. Bosworth, it was negative.
God wouldn't permit that taken against that saintly old man. He pulled out the next
one: negative. He pulled out all six of them, and every one of them was blank. And
when he pulled out the other one, there was the Angel of God on the picture. He
had a heart attack. They sent for me at the Rice Hotel. Of course, there's two men
standing at the door in big meetings where they have thousands and thousands of
people. There's someone stands at the door. They wouldn't let them in. All right.
And then that night at eleven o'clock, that was sent to Washington, DC to be copyrighted.
On the following day it was flown back again. And they called in George J. Lacy.
He's the head of the FBI in fingerprint and documents, the best there is in the
world, the best in the United States. So being American, we say he was the best
in the world to us. And so he's the head of the FBI. And they brought him in, and
he took it to the Shell Building under examination of ultra-ray lights and so forth,
everything he tried. He went out and he measured the distance, and took the camera
to see if it was a double exposure, and he — he done everything that he could do
to find out. And on the... about the fourth day he said they was going to meet in
the Shell Building and give the announce what it was. So that day he said, "Whose
name's Branham?"
I said, "Mine." Bunch setting there, a lot of the newspapers and things wanted to
see what his report was. He said, "Stand up." I stood up. He said, "You're going
to pass out of this life someday like all mortals, Reverend Branham." I said, "I'm
aware of that, but thank God," I said, "Jesus Christ has saved me from sin." He
said, "I've been one of your critics." See? And so the man when he brought up there,
he said, "Reverend Branham, it's always been said that that was psychology." Said,
"I've heard of your meetings and said that it was psychology, wasn't nothing to
it. It was just imagination. When that light would come in, everybody'd say, 'There
it is. There it is,' and people would say, 'Well that's...' Everybody just imagined
it." It was took once before by a newspaper, but it wasn't — it wasn't real. They
wouldn't let it go, because it wasn't by the American Photographer Association.
It wasn't a member of it, so they wouldn't pass it, but this was strictly the American
Photographer Association.
And he said, "Reverend Branham, I have said it was psychology, but the mechanical
eye of this camera will not take psychology." Said, "The Light struck the lens."
Everybody begin crying. So they called me forward to present the picture to me,
and I said, "Well, it's not mine. It belongs to them." He said, "Do you know that's
worth a hundred thousand doll..." I said, "Brother, do you mean to tell me just
what you got through saying? That the first time in all the world's history that
a supernatural Being was ever photographed." And here's what he said. Said, "The
old hypocrite..." (he meant the unbeliever)... "The old..." (unbeliever) "has always
said, that there was no scientific way to prove a supernatural Being." Said, "Now,
they can't say that no more. Here's absolutely, scientific proof that there is a
supernatural Being." See? And scientifically proved by this mechanical camera here
that took the — the light of that Angel standing there, and said, "It's absolutely
is the truth."
And I said, "Well, if Jesus Christ thought enough of me to come down and have His
picture taken by me for the first time in all the world, you think I'm a little
enough to commercialize this picture?" And he said, "No, I wouldn't think that."
I said, "I turn it over to the Douglas Studios." He said, "There ought to be some
kind of an agreement." I said, "Sure. They can sell it." And I said, "They can,
as long as they keep it cheap enough that poor people can get it." He said, "Someday,
Reverend Branham, you may be dead and gone," but said, "it'll be sold in ten cent
stores." And I — I said, "Well, for the glory of God that would be fine."
So then, tonight the picture's here. George J. Lacy is a living today. He's still
in this work, and the picture lives on and if — if I would die this night, what I
testified about this scientific world can't say it isn't so, because there's scientific
machinery and proof that I've told the truth. And the church of millions of people
that's been preached to in the past few years have seen it and watched it, and you
know it yourself, that I've told the truth. And God testified that it is the truth.
That's right. So the testimony is absolutely true. Now look, Christian friends.
You're looking for something way out yonder to come. You're looking for something
way back this a way. Don't do that. It's right here now, right here now. Just as
much as you'll ever see is... Only you might see it in greater quantity, but the
Holy Spirit is here now which is the Lord Jesus Christ in His resurrection.
53-1129E TESTIMONY
So then, he took — finger like this. And he got six glossies of him like that. And
when they developed the pictures and pulled them out, God wouldn't permit that camera
to take one of the pictures. Every one of them was negative. Then when he pulled
the other one out, there was the Angel of the Lord. They sent and got George J.
Lacy, which was the head of the FBI and fingerprint and so forth. Kept it several
days in there and studied it. And studied everything and come back, called us in
the Shell Building there and for the — that evening, said, "Whose name is Reverend
Branham?" I said, "Mine." And he said, "Stand up." He said, "You'll pass away like
all mortals," but said, "as long as there is a Christian civilization, your picture
will never die." He said, "It's absolutely..." He said, "The old hypocrite always
said that there couldn't be scientific proof of an immortal Being," but said, "they
can't say it no more. Here is the... Mechanical eye of that camera won't take psychology."
Said, "It's a real supernatural Being." And there It was. And there It is tonight.
What is it? Not because of me, but because the truth that I was standing for was
there. Now, that has been seen in the meetings all over the world.
54-0301 THE.ANGEL.OF.THE.COVENANT
George J. Lacy said, "It looked like an emerald light, a burning with flapping flames
like that, as it whirled around and around like that. Looked like it was going in
a circle a whirling around." Now that, It looks to be about that big and probably
that thick. Practically every night when I... Frankly, right now, I can tell you
now that we as — as I'm preaching today to dying men as a dying man, that I... That
isn't standing five feet from where I am right now. That's right.
54-0720A THE.MANIAC.OF.GADARA
But now in here, in the book, is the write up of George J. Lacy, FBI, best of fingerprint
and documents in the United States. And if he's from the United States in that,
I think he's the best in the world. And he was the one who examined the picture
and said, "It's the only supernatural Being that could ever be scientifically proven."
The only supernatural Being that could ever scientifically be proven... All right.
54-0902 SOUTH.AFRICA.TESTIMONY
And so they took the picture in to... not knowing what this would be. They took
Mr. Bosworth's picture in so they could get it to Mr. Best, the glossy. And they
put it in the acid, and he set there, smoked a few cigarettes, till it went through
the acid, brought the picture out, and every one of Mr. Best, with his finger under
Mr. Bosworth's nose, every one of them was blank. God would not permit that man
stand there and put his finger under that godly, saintly, old warrior. No, sir.
And when he pulled my picture out, lo and behold, not only my picture was there,
but there was the Angel of the Lord on the picture. And they called George J. Lacy.
Anybody that knows enough about the FBI and fingerprint and document, knows who
he is. He's the best in the world. And they called him. He took it into Houston
into the Shell building, and put it under infra-ray light. He examined the camera
for double exposure. He did everything that could be done for it. They took the
picture many times before, but it wasn't under this... It wasn't authentic. The
newspaper picture — camera took it, and we put it a picture, but it couldn't be proven
just by a newspaper camera. But this was absolutely authentic.
It went to Washington, DC, was copy-righted, brought back. Mr. Lacy passed his opinion
and put it on document, that it's the only supernatural Being that's ever been photographed
in all the world, can be proven to be the truth. And here's what it said. Said,
"The old hypocrite one said," He meant the unbeliever, "that those Lights over the
saints and the... Jesus was just psychology." He said, "But Reverend Branham, that
mechanical eye of the camera won't take psychology." Said, "The Light struck the
lens, and there It is." What is it? The scientific world knows that I've told the
truth; there It is to prove it. That's a better — that's a better vindication...
And I'll say this, my Bible here, that same Light isn't hanging two foot from where
I'm standing. That's exactly right. It's a... It's like a sixth sense. It's right
here, right up in this direction. I am not a fanatic; I'm a Christian minister,
and that's the truth.
55-0227E THE.HEALING.OF.JAIRUS.DAUGHTER
The great American Photographer Association, after many newspapers that took It,
caught It in their camera. Then one night at Houston, Texas, God permitted His picture
of His Son, in the same form that Saint Paul seen Him in, to be photographed. And
got George J. Lacy of the FBI fingerprint and document to come from California to
Houston, Texas, to put it into the Shell building, into the laboratory, and examine
it under the ultra-ray lights, and everything else, for days after days. And he
walked out (a firm critic of mine) and shook my hand and said, "Brother Branham,
the Light struck the lens. It was there." And said, "The mechanical eye of this
camera won't take psychology. The Light was there."
55-0400 BLIND.BARTIMAEUS
He was up there to take Mr. Bosworth's picture. And when Mr. Best was holding debate
with him, he'd pose like this, and put his finger under Brother Bosworth's nose,
and say, "Take it like this." He said, "I want them to hang up in my... I want to
take that old man and skin him, and take his skin and tack it on my study door for
a memorial to Divine healing." Could you imagine a brother talking about one like
that? So he said... And that night when he put his finger under his nose, and he
draw his fist up, and had the studio set that big camera out; se-... oh, there was
several cameras there, and so, to take the picture. Well, then, you know what happened?
God wasn't willing that His servant should be taken with a picture like that, and
every one of them was blank. Not a one of them showed up. But the... when they pulled
this other one out, there was the picture of the Angel of the Lord on it. And they
sent it to George J. Lacy, FBI fingerprint and document, he kept it in the place
for several days. And then, it was copyrighted in Washington, DC, as the only supernatural
Being that's ever been scientifically proven. And that's right. In Washington, DC,
now: copyrighted.
And then, they come and said, "We'll give the analysis of it." Mr. Lacy said, "Whose
name is Reverend Branham?" I said, "Mine." He said, "Stand up." And I stood up.
Kind of a red-headed fellow, kind of hard-boiled eyes; I hope he's not setting present
to hear this. So he... hair hanging down in his eyes. When he seen it, first, he
was very hard about it. He said, "Reverend Branham, come here." Said, "You'll die
like all men do." See? I said, "I'm sure of that, but I'm prepared for it." He said,
"But as long as there's a civilization, your picture will never go out of existence."
He said, "That's the only time a supernatural Being was ever photographed." He said,
"The Light struck the lens; it's the truth," like that. And he submitted it to me,
and I give it over to the Douglas Studios in Houston, Texas. They're the ones that
own it. And he said some little thing there to me, something, said, "The testament
unto the testator..." something. Said, "For as long as you're living, that picture
will never be in force, but afterwards," said, "wait till you're gone, it'll be
on ten-cent stores, and things like that."
So what it is, is... what it is to me, if I... If this is my last night on earth,
if this is my last night to be on earth, my testimony is the truth. The church knows
it. Millions around the world, I've come in personal contact with just more than
ten million people, and around the world. It's been seen by thousands times thousands
of people, everywhere. I trust to God that It will come visible here in Macon before
I leave, before the audience. And they see the works and signs of It. That's the
Truth. And the scientific world can't say there's no supernatural Being anymore,
'cause it's scientifically proven, God... They're without an excuse now. So we're
thankful to the Lord, tonight, to know that our great Jehovah God was with the father
Abraham, and is still here tonight with His Church, moving on just the same as He
was in the days gone by. To my opinion, the same Pillar of Fire that led the children
of Israel, Jesus Christ, the Angel of the Covenant, the same yesterday, today, and
forever: scientifically proven.
55-0608 ABRAHAM
How many of you tonight got one of the pictures, let's see your hands. It's in Washington,
DC now, the picture of the Angel of the Lord. The only picture, according to George
J. Lacy, the head of the FBI, fingerprint and documents, examined, Houston, Texas,
sent them to Washington, DC, hangs in the Religious Hall of Art, the only scientific
proof that there is today, scientifically, that there's a supernatural Being. Mr.
Lacy said, "It was not psychology, the mechanic eye of the camera couldn't take
psychology. We put it under ultra-ray light and everything else," and said, "the
Light struck the lens." Signed his name to it; there's a writing from him himself
in the back of the book.
56-0414 BLIND.BARTIMAEUS
Now, you see that Angel on the picture there? It's hanging in Washington, DC, where
the FBI has examined it, as the only Supernatural Being ever proved to be taken.
Just find out, George J. Lacy, the head of the FBI then, just find out his name
and address and so forth. Now, that same Angel isn't five feet from where I'm standing
right now. Now, it's true. Now, it's not me, it's Him. There was a Pillar of Fire,
Who led the children of Israel, how many Bible students knows that? A Pillar of
Fire, is that right? Who was that Pillar of Fire? Christ, the Angel of the Covenant,
Which was Christ. He was with Moses in the wilderness, sure. He said, "Before Abraham
was I AM." He was the I AM. Now, if He's still the same, He's still here, in the
Light like the Pillar of Fire. Paul saw Him when he was on his road to Damascus,
is that right? He saw Him. He said, "I come from God, I go back to God. The world
won't see Me, but you'll see Me."
56-0419 EARNESTLY CONTENDING FOR THE FAITH THAT WAS ONCE DELIVERED UNTO THE SAINTS
How many ever seen the picture of it? Let's see your hands. Sure, I guess all of
you have. It's here somewhere. A Pillar of Fire, the American Photographer Association
took the picture of it. It's copyrighted in Washington, DC, the only supernatural
being was ever scientifically photographed in all the history of the world. See
at Washington if that isn't right. Examined by George J. Lacy, head of the FBI,
fingerprint and document. It's true.
If I'd go home this night, the church knows I've told the truth. The scientific
world knows I've told the truth, 'cause it's scientifically proved. George J. Lacy
said the mechanical eye of this camera will not take psychology. The Light struck
the lens.
57-0613E THIRSTING.FOR.LIFE
And now, they don't let pictures be taken while I'm under the anointing because
that Angel is a Light too, and it interferes with me. They can take them any time
before that; it's all right. So then... So they begin taking those pictures, and
then when I went down, I said, "Now, if I have — if I have misrepresented anything."
You can't prove that by the Bible, neither he's whipped in Divine healing as far
as that — by the Bible. You seen he couldn't — he couldn't even answer one question.
I said, "But the Angel of the Lord, that's true, and if I'm true God will speak
for me." And about that time, it sound like a wind shook the building. And when
it did coming down, visible, here come this Pillar of Fire moving down. And Kipperman,
just by way shot the picture again, and Mr. Ayers, a Roman Catholic, had put a piece
in the paper, and said, "I — I hypnotized a woman, and a goiter went off of her throat,
the day before." And he had just ridiculed me. He was one with the studio. And then
on the... It was a... After they took the picture, I said, "Now, God has spoke.
It's time for me to leave." I said, "When He speaks the audience should keep quiet."
And on the road home that night, Mr. Kipperman said — Ayers said to Mr. Kipperman,
said, "Do you think it'll show?" Said, "I doubt it." So they went in, and they put
the pictures in the acid, and Mr. Kipperman went up the stairs, which lived over
the studio to go to bed. And Mr. Ayers said, "We'd better run these glossies through,
'cause Best will want them tomorrow." So he set there, smoked his cigarette real
nervously, and he went in to pull out of the acid, and all six pictures of Mr. Best
shaking his fist under Mr. Bosworth's nose, every one of them was blank. God would
not permit that man to shake his fist under the nose of that Godly saint. They was
everyone blank. And when he pulled out the seventh one, there was the Angel of the
Lord on the picture. He had a heart attack that night.
They sent it away; it was tested by George J. Lacy, the head of the FBI in finger
printing document of one of my critics. The next day when he... About four days
afterwards we went to the Shell Building where he had been brought from California
to test the picture. He said, "Whose name's Mr. Branham?" I said, "Mine." Said,
"Stand up." Said, "Come here." Said, "I've been your critic." Said, "I've heard
people say that about that Light and so forth." "But," said, "I said it was psychology."
But he reached out his hand, he said, "Mr. Branham, the mechanical eye of that camera
won't take psychology." The Light struck the lens. And he said, "As far as I know,
that's the first time that a supernatural Being was ever scientifically photographed
in all the history of the world." He said, "Someday that'll be on ten cents stores."
"But," said, "not while you're living, for the testament is not in force until the
testator is dead." We know — we know that. So that's sealed the testimony, and we're
grateful to that, because God is still the same; He never fails. He's still the
same Jehovah God. I'm sorry to have took that much time on that little picture there,
but I'll try to hurry with my text.
57-0810 JEHOVAH.JIREH
This was by the FBI, fingerprint and document; here it is, the same Pillar of Fire
that led the children of Israel. It's in Washington, DC as the only supernatural
Being was ever photographed. Germany, got it three times in Germany with their camera
last year, coming down, giving the discernment and going back. And George J. Lacy,
the head of the FBI fingerprint and document, examined this. There's his write-up
on it. See? It's the... That same Angel is not two foot from where I'm standing
right now. What is it? It's the Pillar of Fire that led the children of Israel.
How many knows that Jesus went to a Pillar of Fire when He left the earth? How many
knows that? When He was here on earth, He said, "I come from God; I go to God."
When He was... How many knows that it was Jesus, the Logos, the — the Angel of the
Covenant, the Christ that led the children of Israel through the wilderness, He
was the Pillar of Fire. He was the Rock. He... See? Then He went back to God. And
when Paul met Him on the road to Damascus, He was still that Pillar of Fire, that
even put Paul's eyes out.
57-1212 THE.DOOR.OF.THE.DOOR
And no more than I'd said that, here come that Pillar of Fire, whirling from the
air, before thirty thousand people, come down like that. And the photographer that...
They was supposed not to take pictures while the meeting's going on. That great
big... the... a camera shot the picture, just to see if they could get it. And it
has been seen in many places, but they — they wondered... a newspaper reporter got
it on a picture once, but it wasn't authentic, because the newspaper reporter. And
then when they shot that one, Mr. Best walked up, stuck his fist up under Mr. Bosworth's
nose and said, "Take my picture like this, just before this, then take it like this."
He said, "I'm going to skin that old man, and tack his hide on my study door, for
a memorial to divine healing." But you know, when they went in...
I said, "Now, God has spoken. There's no need for me to speak any more." And I went
out. The police helped me to the car. And when I got to the car, went up, about
a hour later, they took that... And the man that take it was a critic; he had wrote
in the paper the other day, said, "Mr. Branham hypnotized a goiter off of a woman's
throat. I seen him rub his hands like that with hypnotism, and the goiter left."
Very much of a critic, and he went home that night, and he said, "You know what?
I don't know what to think." He said, "If the man was a Catholic, I'd believe it
was right. But not..." Said, "All gifts go to the Catholic church." And he said,
"But if he was a Catholic, I would think it was right."
Then he went on in — in the Douglas Studios; you can... right here is their address
and things on the picture. When they went to develop the picture, they taken out
the six glossies that they was supposed to have for Mr. Best shaking his fists under
that godly, saintly, old man, and every one of them was blank. God wouldn't permit
that camera to take the picture with his fist under that saintly man's nose, like
that, acting like that. And when they pulled the seventh one out, there was the
Angel of the Lord on the picture. Mr. Ayers keeled over in a heart attack. They
sent for me. At eleven o'clock that night, it was on its road to Washington, DC.
A week later after it was copyrighted, and brought back, George J. Lacy, the head
of the FBI, fingerprint and document of the United States, the best there is in
the world, he had it for several days in the Shell Laboratory in Houston, Texas.
That day when we all went over there to receive what he would say about it, Mr.
Best said, "Whose name's Branham?" I said, "Mine." Said, "Stand up." And I stood
up, he said, "Come here." I walked up to him. He said, "Mr. Branham," he said, "I've
been your critic too, and I've said that that was psychology those people seen."
He said, "But the mechanical eye of that camera won't take psychology." Said, "The
light struck the lens." And he said, "As far as I know, of all of any age," he said,
"the old hypocrite," (which he meant the unbeliever), said, "there couldn't be any
scientific proof that there was a supernatural Being," but said, "this picture condemns
him. Here is the supernatural Being that was there." The light struck the lens,
and he presented the film. There it is back there now, from the Douglas Studios
with his own name signed, and it's in the book also. The only...
58-0127 JEHOVAH.JIREH
Did you ever see that picture out there of the Angel of the Lord? Oh, you have one?
All right. Now, do you believe that's the same Pillar of Fire that led the children
of Israel? See? It was a Pillar of Fire. And when Jesus was here on earth, He said,
"I come from God, and I go back to God." And when He was here on earth, He said
He was that Pillar of Fire. He said that. He said, "I AM THAT I AM. Before Moses
was, I AM." He was the Pillar of Fire that was in the burning bush. He said... Now,
He's here in flesh, "I've come from God (the Pillar of Fire); I go back to God,
the Pillar of Fire." And when Paul met Him on the road to Damascus, He was that
Pillar of Fire again. Paul fell down. Them people by him didn't see it, but it — it
put his eyes out. He said, "Who are You, Lord?" that great Pillar of Fire. He said,
"I am Jesus, Who you persecute." And here's His picture on paper. By the FBI fingerprint
and document, it's true. George J. Lacy said, "The Light struck the lens, Mr. Branham.
This mechanical eye of this camera won't take psychology." So there, it's absolutely
proved by scientific that It couldn't be psychology. Shamed if I'd be here in psychology,
as a minister of the Gospel. Not me, sister. I think too much of my Lord for that.
I'm here to help you, to do everything I can to get your faith in Christ.
58-0302 DOOR.TO.THE.HEART
How many seen the picture of it tonight? Let's see how many has ever seen the picture?
It's right here in Washington, DC. We'll get it for you tomorrow night, a Angel
of the Lord. It's right here in Washington, DC. George J. Lacy, the head of the
FBI and them examined it, got their signed document right here, the only supernatural
being that was ever photographed in the world. That's right. It's right here. We
got it. This isn't a... Now 'cause we have to get them from the American Photographer
Association, the Douglas Studios out of Texas, where it was taken. They seen It
in Germany a few months ago, three times: It coming, going back, the Pillar of Fire,
the same One that followed the children of Israel in the days of Israel's journey.
How many know it was the Pillar of Fire? How many know that was Christ? That shows
you're called. That's what makes... That's good, brethren. That's right. That's
certain.
When He was here on earth, He said, "I come from God. I return to God." When He
come on earth, when He was with the children of Israel, He was a Pillar of Fire.
He was in the burning bush. Jesus when He was on earth, He said, "I AM THAT I AM
was in the bush." Is that right? He was. All right. Then He said, "I come from that;
I return to that." After His death, burial, and resurrection, Paul met Him on the
road down to Damascus. What was He? A Light that put Paul's eyes out, standing in
His Presence. That's right. Now, here's His picture again, right here again. I keep
telling... George Lacy said, "I've been your critic too, Mr. Branham." But said,
"I said it was psychology." But said, "The mechanical eye of this camera won't take
psychology." That's the head of the FBI in fingerprint and documents. Yes. It was
absolutely there.
That same Angel is not two foot from where I'm standing now, or I'm a liar.
58-0312 JESUS CHRIST THE SAME YESTERDAY TODAY AND FOREVER
Now, if you notice, this is not just a picture that we want to just save to make
money on. We buy this picture and sell it same way we get it; about three or four
cents on the picture for handling is all we get. It's a copyrighted affair and is
in Washington, DC, as the only supernatural Being was ever proven to be photographed.
Now, the... George J. Lacy, of the FBI, fingerprint and document, examined the case.
And he said to me, "Mr. Branham, I've heard of your meetings, and I've been to one
or two. And I said it was psychology, that that Light wasn't there. But," he said,
"Mr. Branham, that mechanical eye of the camera won't take psychology. The Light
struck the lens." He signed the document and turned it over to the Douglas Studios,
a member of the American Photographers Association at Houston, Texas. Now, I say
this with humbleness and with reverence to Him Who is present, that is the Light
that I have seen. That was the Light was over my cradle when I was born. That's
the Light that's... From there has come a voice and talked to me down through my
life, that's told things by the hundreds of things. And search out anyone you wish
to, from Africa around the world, in my own city, doctors, attorneys, or whatever
you wish, and see if ever one time it failed to be just exactly what He said it
was. That's what speaks here at the platform, not your brother.
58-0508 THE.EXPECTATIONS
This picture here of the Angel of the Lord, I don't know whether you ever seen it
or not, the writing that's with it from the FBI, said, "I once thought your meetings
were psychology, when you talked about the Light. I wondered how this was done."
Mr. George J. Lacy, said, "Mr. Branham, the mechanical eye of the camera won't take
psychology. The Light struck the lens." It's at the counter back there, at the bookstand.
The boys will have it after the service. We have to buy it; it's on a copyright.
We have to buy our books; they're on copyright. We have nothing to sell, we... If
I didn't think that would help someone, it would never be here. It's not my picture
you're buying, it's His picture. Mr. Lacy said, "There was a time when they doubted
those Lights, and said, 'It was a psychic thought of the artist that painted those
halos and things, around our Lord, and around the apostles,' but said, 'this mechanical
picture proves that it's the truth.'" That's right. He said, "The old hypocrite..."
He meant the unbeliever. That's what he stated. I'm quoting his words. just as he
said it. He said, "They can't do it any more." Then the scientific world knows that
He still lives. The church knows He still lives, because He remains the same.
58-0510 HAVE.FAITH.IN.GOD
Here He is as millions of the church knows it. Millions of the church people knows
it. Now the scientific world knows it. One hangs in Washington, DC, in the Religious
Hall of Art, the only supernatural being was ever photographed in all the world.
George J. Lacy of the FBI, Fingerprint and Documents, here in Houston, Texas, examined
it. It's right, and put his own... You see the write up on it, on the book. That's
true. Yes, sir. The only...
58-0612 WE.WOULD.SEE.JESUS
What did George J. Lacy, the head of the FBI say? He said, "Mr. Branham, the picture
will never be very much while you're living, because it would make human worship.
But someday this will be sold on ten cent stores, but not while you're living."
See? Well, that's right; it couldn't be; the Lord won't let this be known.
58-0619E CAN.WE.SEE.JESUS
And then when this Angel came down, that photographer had that great machine set,
and he shot the picture. And when He come down, people screaming, I said, "I will
have to speak no more. He speaks in my place." I went out. The policeman helped
me to the car. The photographers taking the pictures, and went over... One of them
was a Jew; the other one was Catholic, the two photographers working for the Douglas
Studios in Houston, Texas. And they're a member of the association, and they went
in — they went into the studio, and they said, "We'd better get these glossies out
for Mr. Best; he wants them tomorrow." The Jew, Mr. Ayers, went upstairs and laid
down. And the other man went in and put the pictures in the acids, come back was
smoking a cigarette, and he begin to think, he said, "You know, if that man was
only Catholic, he could be true." Said, "Maybe he is." Says, "Because his parents
behind him (my people before me) were Catholic, and that man could have been right.
But he can't be right and be a protestant." He goes in... And the day before he'd
wrote an awful article in the paper about me, and then he went in and pulled the
pictures out of the acid. One, two, three, four, five, six, none of them took. God
wouldn't permit a picture to be taken of him shaking his fist under that sainted
old man's face. And he pulled out the seventh, and there was the Angel on the picture.
He had a heart attack and fell.
Two or three days later, the negative was flown to Washington DC that night, at
eleven o'clock, and brought back. And George J. Lacy, the head of the FBI on fingerprint
and documents was flown there to take a test of this picture, to see if it was something
had been painted on there, a double exposure, or something wrong. After three days
he called us in. There was about two hundred people, writers of magazines, different
papers, and he stood up, and he said, "Whose name is Branham?" I said, "Mine." Said,
"Come here." He's kind of red-headed...?... hair on his face, and he said, "Stand
here." Said, "Yes, sir." He said, "Mr. Branham, I've been one of your critics. I've
said that that was psychology, but listen Reverend Branham, the mechanical eye of
that camera won't take psychology. The Light struck the lens." He said, "You're
going to... He said, "The light struck the lens." He said, "Someday, this picture
will be sold on the ten cent stores (you know). But said, "Not while you're living,
because God wouldn't permit that." But said, "After you're gone, the church will
realize the day that they passed through." Said, "It's always been that way." He
said, "Myself, I'm Catholic." He said, "But I remember the history of Joan of Arc,
how that they — she saw visions, and my church burnt her to a stake as a witch. But
after she was dead a long time, we found out that her — she was a saint. It was too
late." He said, "It was the same thing down through the Scriptures." He said, "Someday
you'll die." I said, "Praise God, I'm ready." And he said, "Forgive me for being
your critic," and he handed me the negative. I said, "It's not mine. It belongs
to the studio." He said, "Mr. Branham, that — that negative is worth tens of thousands
of dollars." Said, "It's the only time that a supernatural Being was ever scientifically
photographed." Now, I said, "I would not take it. Upon your statement, if Jesus
loved me enough to come down and have His picture taken with me for the first time
in all the world's history, who am I to sell His picture to make money from it?"
But in the copyright so that no one can sell it, without your statement... He said,
"I'll gladly write my statement." And he wrote it, signed it. The Douglas Studios
taken it.
60-0210M THE.REVELATION.THAT.WAS.GIVEN.TO.ME
We got the pictures of it here. It's been took the world over in Germany, and America,
and Canada, and everywhere. Scientific, it hangs in a religious hall of art up there,
scientifically proved. George J. Lacy the head of the FBI for fingerprint and documents
said — signed the document himself. The light struck the lens. He said, "I used to
disbelieve it too, but the camera won't take psychology." It's not psychology.
60-0329 IT.IS.I.BE.NOT.AFRAID
The scientific world knows it's the truth. Mr. Lacy said... He ought to know; he's
a government man, head of the FBI, the fingerprint and documents of the fingerprints
and so forth. He said, "There has never been a picture before ever scientifically
proven that there's a supernatural Being." Now, that's right. That's right on his
document. We got it right here. One of them hangs in religious hall of Art at Washington,
DC, the only supernatural being was ever photographed. Brother Arganbright was with
me (Right here. How many knows Brother Arganbright? — A good honest man), standing
right there (where was that, brother? In Germany?) in Lausanne when they wanted
to know if the — that German camera would take it. I said, "Maybe it will."
61-0212E IT.IS.I.BE.NOT.AFRAID
They taken the picture of it. Mr. Ayers, the one that taken it was a Catholic. Seems
strange, but he was working with a man, Jew, by the name of Kipperman. And when
they seen, he took one over there, and put the acids in, and tested, brought out
the negatives. And every one of them pictures with Mr. Best shaking his fist under
that saintly old man's nose; every one of them was blank, didn't take at all. God
would not permit them to be taken. But when they shot the picture, there was the
Angel of the Lord standing there.
They took it before, to send it here to Washington, DC, and copyright it, brought
it back, and called George J. Lacy. He's the head of the FBI on fingerprint and
documents. And they took it and examined it for about five days. And we met in the
Houston Shell building there. And they... And so they said, "Whose name is Branham?"
And I told him, "Mine." and stood up. Said, "You are going to pass out of life like
all men." I said, "I'm... I know that." But said, "As long as there's a Christian
civilization, this picture will never die." He said, "It's been said by the old
hypocrite," he meant the unbeliever, he said, "that a supernatural could never be
scientifically proven." He said, "Mr. Branham, I said it was psychology, that you
were reading people's minds." He said, "But Mr. Branham, the mechanical eye of that
camera won't take psychology. The light struck the lens." That's right. And so it's
been done many many times since then.

Have you ever seen the picture of It? The one the science has took the picture?
If you haven't, Mr. Wood has it back there, I guess you do. Brother Wood, where
